Is your Razor 350 Dirt Bike failing to power on? Electrical problems can be frustrating, but often they are diagnosable with a few simple steps. This guide will walk you through troubleshooting common battery and wiring issues on your Razor 350 dirt bike to help you get back on the trails.
Before diving in, it’s important to perform a visual inspection. In the original scenario, it was noted that the wire terminals were red, designed for 22-18 gauge wire, while the MX350 battery harness wires are 14 gauge. This mismatch can lead to poor connections. It’s advisable to replace undersized terminals with the correct blue terminals for 14-16 gauge wire to ensure secure and safe connections.
If your wiring terminals seem correctly sized, or after you’ve addressed any terminal issues, proceed with the following diagnostic tests using a multimeter.
First, check the fuse located between the two batteries.
Razor MX350 battery wiring harness and fuse location
Step 1: Fuse Inspection
- Test the fuse with your multimeter to see if it’s blown. A blown fuse will show no continuity.
- If the fuse is bad, replace it with a 30 Amp ATO or ATC fuse of the same type.
Step 2: Battery Pack Voltage Test
- Disconnect the battery pack wiring harness from the main wiring harness of your Razor 350 dirt bike.
- Using your multimeter, test the voltage at the connector terminals of the battery pack wiring harness.
- You should read approximately 27 Volts if the batteries are adequately charged.
- If there’s no voltage, inspect the harness for any breaks or damage. Also, test each battery individually to determine if one or both are failing.
Step 3: Main Wiring Harness Voltage Test
- Reconnect the battery pack wiring harness to the main wiring harness.
- Disconnect the main harness connector from the controller.
- Turn the power switch on your Razor 350 dirt bike to the “on” position.
- Test the voltage at the connector terminals of the main wiring harness (the connector you just disconnected from the controller).
- You should see the same voltage reading as you did at the battery harness connector terminals (around 27 Volts).
- If there is no voltage at this point, the power switch itself may be faulty and require replacement.
By following these steps, you can systematically diagnose common electrical issues affecting your Razor 350 dirt bike’s battery system. Remember to use appropriately sized connectors for all wiring to ensure safe and reliable operation. If problems persist after these tests, further professional diagnostics may be necessary.
