Hey everyone! I’m Sherry, and this is Sophie, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and my constant riding companion. Unless I’m just popping over to a neighbor’s house, Sophie is right here with me. She’s seven years young and full of energy, and if I’m being honest about her age, I guess I should share mine too – I’m 61 years old and loving life!
Sophie, weighing in at a delightful 22 pounds, absolutely adores our daily rides. I wanted to share with you all just how much she enjoys our Tricycle Bike adventures and show you the few essentials I bring along for our comfort and convenience.
I used to bring a frozen water bottle, but I’ve upgraded to a thermos to keep our water cool. Our rides are usually around an hour, maybe 45 minutes, and we often stop about halfway through or near the end for a quick refreshment break. I’ll take a sip, and then Sophie gets her share in a little cup I bring.
My cell phone is always with me, for safety and just in case. Actually, my husband is using it right now to film this! I tuck it into this fantastic custom liner I had made for my sixthreezero tricycle bike. A wonderful lady on Etsy made it for me. It has these clever little pockets on the sides that are perfect for keeping my phone secure, as you can see.
Now, let me show you how Sophie gets into her basket. Come on, sweetness! Oops, a little jump for you there. She’s a sturdy girl! So, into her basket she goes. Normally, I don’t even bother with her leash for our rides. I have this harness that clips right onto her collar and then attaches to the basket here, so she’s nice and secure on both sides.
One of the best things about having Sophie ride with me, besides her adorable company, is that it actually improves the stability of my tricycle bike. Because it’s a trike, there’s always a slight risk of tipping, but with Sophie’s weight in the back basket, it feels much more grounded and secure. It really makes a difference!
So, we’ve got Sophie settled on her comfy pillow, my phone is in its pocket, water is ready, and her little sharing cup is set. That’s truly all we need because we usually don’t venture too far from home on our rides.
And because we’re out in the sun and wind, I always make sure my precious girl has her little doggles on. Everyone loves seeing her in them! She’s not always thrilled when I first put them on, and she definitely shakes her head when we stop for bathroom breaks, but they are essential for protecting her eyes. They’re easy to adjust and put on. See? Isn’t she just the cutest thing ever, ready for our tricycle bike adventure?
