Buyer Beware: My Terrible Experience with Bike Inn (TradeInn)

I would strongly advise against purchasing from Bike Inn, also known as TradeInn. My recent experience with a Sailfish wetsuit bought from them has been incredibly frustrating. On only its second use, the wetsuit tore in the groin area. Naturally, I contacted Sailfish for a warranty claim, who directed me back to Bike Inn (TradeInn) to process it. I sent Bike Inn the requested photos, including this one:

Bike Inn’s warranty department claimed the tear was due to “bad use,” specifically fingernail damage during donning or doffing the suit. They insisted, despite the extensive width of the tear and the fact that it penetrated the inner fabric, that it was caused by my fingernails.

Interestingly, Sailfish themselves had a completely different assessment. They stated, “as we are of the opinion that it is a delamination, we will repair the suit free of charge for you.” However, Bike Inn remained firm in their rejection, essentially overruling the manufacturer’s expert opinion.

Even after informing Bike Inn about Sailfish’s willingness to repair the wetsuit, they refused to budge, stating in a fourth message that their warranty department’s decision stood, blaming “fingernails.” This entire process has been time-consuming and costly, as I now have to ship the wetsuit to Sailfish HQ myself.

My takeaway is that Bike Inn (TradeInn) operates unethically and lacks integrity. Furthermore, be wary of their customer reviews. My attempts to post a review detailing this negative experience have been unsuccessful; it simply never appeared on their site. It seems only positive reviews are published, creating a misleadingly favorable impression. Avoid Bike Inn if you value fair customer service and warranty support, especially for cycling and sports gear.
