Purchasing an electric bike from Walmart might not be the first thought for serious cycling enthusiasts, and admittedly, I approached it with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, my experience with a Kent 700c step-thru electric bike from Walmart has been surprisingly positive and worth sharing for anyone considering an affordable entry into the world of e-bikes.
Upon receiving my Electric Bike Walmart purchase in January 2020, my initial instinct was to thoroughly inspect and fine-tune everything. This wasn’t necessarily due to any immediate red flags, but more a matter of personal preference. I meticulously went through the bike, adjusting the brakes and derailleur for optimal performance. Every nut, screw, and bolt was tightened and torqued, some even getting a touch of thread lock for added security. I adjusted and tightened all the spokes, ensuring the wheels were true. My attention to detail even extended to disassembling the front forks, headset, pedal bearings, and front wheel hub bearings. While all components had sufficient grease, I cleaned and replaced it with my preferred type, just for peace of mind. It’s worth noting that the forks are basic, manufactured by Mode, featuring a single coil spring and a damping adjustment.
