The Cargo model also boasts the longest wheelbase in the Omnium range. This extended wheelbase contributes to exceptionally stable handling, especially beneficial when carrying substantial loads. Engineered for Comfort and Performance
The Cargo V3 is expertly designed around 55mm (2.15″) tires, front and rear. The advantages of larger tires are numerous, significantly enhancing the riding experience. These high-volume tires operate at lower pressures, effectively creating a natural suspension system between you and the road. This translates to superior comfort and control across diverse surfaces, effortlessly smoothing out rough roads, gravel paths, and cobblestone streets. The semi-slick tire tread pattern ensures minimal compromise on rolling speed while crucially maximizing grip, stability, and puncture resistance.
The frame and fork have been updated to incorporate 15 x 100mm front and 12 x 142mm rear thru axles. While initially developed for downhill mountain bikes in the late 1990s, thru axles are now standard on most modern disc brake bikes, and for good reason. They are perfectly suited for cargo bikes. The thru axle system bolts securely through a closed aperture in the frame and fork, then through the hub, threading directly into the dropout on the opposite side. This system is paramount for increasing stiffness and rigidity, especially under braking and when carrying heavy loads. It also significantly reduces the risk of wheel misalignment and disc brake rub.
The adjustable rocker dropouts are available as a complimentary upgrade with new frame kit purchases or can be acquired separately.
Choose between dropout options to best suit your needs:
- 10 x 135 QR with IS brake mount – ideal for internal gear hubs or quick release rear hubs.
- 12 x 142 thru axle with IS brake mount – the standard and recommended choice for thru axle hubs, such as those in our Omnium Wheels.
It’s important to note that all Cargo V3 forks are designed with a 15×100 thru axle, irrespective of the chosen dropout style.
