Master Bike Repair: Learn with a Bike Chainbreaker at Our Resource Center

Are you looking to get hands-on with bike repair and maintenance? At the Bicycle Resource Center (BRC), we empower you to do just that. Unlike a typical bike shop, we’re a community workshop where you become an active participant in getting your bike road-ready. If you’re eager to learn how to fix your own bicycle or acquire an affordable used one, you’ve come to the right place.

Our flagship project, the BRC, operates as a hands-on bicycle workshop. Here, experienced Chainbreaker members, who have completed our training programs, guide individuals like you through the process of obtaining and repairing a bicycle. We firmly believe in empowering individuals, which means we don’t offer a traditional service-based repair shop. Instead, we provide the tools, knowledge, and guidance for you to become self-sufficient in bike maintenance. Whether you need to fix a flat tire, adjust your brakes, or even tackle more complex tasks like chain repair using a Bike Chainbreaker, our team is here to assist your learning journey. We will walk you through becoming a member and accessing our resources to get a bike or fix your current one.

We understand that not everyone has the time or inclination to get their hands dirty with bike repairs. If you prefer a quick fix or don’t want to engage in the repair process yourself, we recommend visiting a local bike shop. They offer service-based repairs for those who prefer a more hands-off approach. Alternatively, you can explore classified ads or yard sales for bike options. We’re happy to offer advice on what to look for in these situations and recommend local bike shops if needed.

Our commitment is to serve those who genuinely cannot afford bicycle repairs or a bike from commercial avenues. If you have the financial means to purchase a new or used bike or pay for repairs elsewhere, we kindly encourage you to do so. This allows us to focus our limited resources on those who need them most, fostering a community of self-reliance and shared resources.
