GuyKesTV Chat’s with Cy about the New Solaris: [Link to GuyKesTV Interview]
Mountain Biking UK Head-to-Head Test January 2025:
“The Solaris is the kind of machine that lulls you into that happy place without you really noticing, because it’s so easy to work with.”
“At its core, the Cotic comes over as a bike that’s been refined to handle as sweetly as possible, and displays a real sense of passion and nit-picking for the ultimate ride quality.”
“Despite the extra cost (even compared to other steel hardtails)….if we were to grab a bike from this pair to go for a ride on, it would be the Cotic Solaris, all day long. There’s no caveat either, and the statement stands whether that was an XC mission, a trail outing or even hitting up some rougher enduro style tracks.”

This chart serves as a general guide. Longshot Geometry ensures ample standover clearance and a low center of gravity. We recommend choosing the size corresponding to your height and experiencing the benefits of a short, responsive 35-45mm stem. It’s a true game-changer in handling and control.
Our refined Cotic “C” Sizing provides more nuanced size increments, giving you greater flexibility to size up or down based on your personal preferences and riding style.
Consider your leg length, especially if you’re upsizing, to ensure compatibility with longer dropper posts. Excessive upsizing may limit dropper post insertion due to collar-seat tube contact. Maximum seatpost insertion figures are available in the geometry charts below.

We don’t design around a specific fork offset, as rider preference plays a significant role. To understand more about fork offset and its nuances, Click Here.

Features and Benefits of the Cotic Solaris
Our radical Longshot geometry is the core of the Solaris’s exceptional performance. It provides unmatched stability on challenging terrain, confident cornering grip, and laser-like precision on steep, technical trails. Paired with a super-short 35mm stem and optimized head angle, the Solaris encourages you to push your limits, seeking out every trail feature to jump, gap, and rail, while maintaining incredible connection and composure.
Hardtail Heritage, Modern Trail DNA
Cotic’s journey began in 2003 with the Soul, a pioneering progressive geometry hardtail. The Soul redefined trail hardtails by leveraging Reynolds 853 steel to create a bike that was both remarkably tough and incredibly responsive and fun to ride. It was a genre-defining, award-winning bike, celebrated for its beautiful design and balanced performance.
The DNA of the Soul flows through every Cotic we create, and the Solaris is a direct descendant of this hardtail heritage. Decades of continuous development and refinement have culminated in a ride that is nuanced, engaging, and utterly thrilling.
Our extensive experience has resulted in what we believe is simply the best hardtail we’ve ever produced. And by extension, that makes the Cotic Solaris one of the finest steel hardtails available anywhere.
The renowned Reynolds 853 tubing creates a front end that is light, responsive, and remarkably robust. It incorporates our custom ride-tuned Ovalform top tube, which is key to the Solaris’s signature ride feel. The inherent compliance of the steel frame provides natural ground-hugging characteristics, maximizing grip and feedback even on seemingly featureless trails. This is expertly paired with our custom-sized and shaped heat-treated cromoly rear end, resulting in a frame that is incredibly light, exceptionally tough, and delivers an unparalleled ride experience.
Your Dream Bike, Built by Us in the UK
At Cotic, we’re passionate about building your dream bike. Every Solaris is assembled in the UK, starting from the frame up, allowing for complete customization.
Our stock specifications are meticulously curated, but they are just the starting point. Want tubeless tyres on your Silver spec bike? Easily done! Prefer a large-can air shock on your droplink full suspension bike instead of an inline model? That’s an option too. Want to add full colour-matched Hope components, including brakes? It’s just a click away, along with countless other possibilities. If you don’t see your desired customization on the order form, simply ask us.
When you contact Cotic, you’re directly engaging with the people who design the frames and will be hand-building your bike. We meticulously inspect, build, and package your Solaris in our award-winning bike boxes with the same care we would give our own bikes. Because we understand how important your new bike is to you. We build your bike, specifically for you.

Origin: Crafted in Czechia, Assembled in the UK
Cotic frames are conceived, designed, engineered, and rigorously tested by our dedicated team at our base in Chesterfield, UK. The Peak District, our local riding playground, provides the perfect proving grounds for developing world-class mountain bikes. Cy Turner, our founder and lead designer and engineer, spearheads the design process, and every Cotic frame undergoes extensive ride testing by our entire team and brand ambassadors. Our frames are fully certified and exceed the stringent ISO4210 safety standards through rigorous lab testing.
The Solaris frames are handcrafted and painted by Fort in Czechia. We chose Fort for their decades of experience in building high-end frames using our preferred materials, their exceptional finish quality, and their shared passion for creating beautiful bikes. We maintain a close collaboration with Fort to ensure every frame meets our exacting standards.
Each frame receives comprehensive anti-corrosion treatment before painting. After meticulous deliberation over colours, designs, and decals, the frames are painted to the highest standards, including a protective clear coat, followed by thorough quality control inspections. Upon arrival at Cotic HQ in the UK, we conduct further QC checks and prepare the frames for headset and bottom bracket installation.
As always, every complete Cotic bike is built to order by our team here in the Peak District, to your precise specifications. We build your bike, for you.
