This Turris model outperformed many higher-priced e-bikes, leaving a lasting positive impression. Its powerful 750W hub motor propels this Class 2-3 e-bike to 20 mph in a mere 8.4 seconds using just the throttle. Pedal assist modes, of which there are five, allow riders to effortlessly reach speeds of 28 mph. The hydroformed aluminum frame neatly integrates a locking 614Wh battery, which is removable for convenient off-bike charging or to reduce weight during transportation. In our range testing, the Turris achieved 22.1 miles on throttle power alone while tackling over 1200 feet of elevation gain. While slightly less than the Aventon Level Step-Thru’s 28.4 miles, it’s important to remember that these range tests are conducted without any pedaling input, meaning real-world range is likely significantly greater. The larger 27.5″ wheels on the Turris contribute to a smoother ride, and the durable knobby tires effectively dampen vibrations and provide excellent traction. Despite its stable feel, testers found the Turris to be surprisingly agile and enjoyable to ride. While offering less adjustability than the Ride1Up 700-Series, the Turris’s overall geometry and quality touchpoints were well-received by our testers. Its remarkable 37.4-mile range surpasses all other cargo e-bikes we’ve tested, effectively eliminating range anxiety. Tester Victoria McNamara praised the Abound’s versatility, stating, “I love how versatile this bike is for my family and how many cool accessories we can add.” Aventon provides a wide array of accessories, allowing users to customize the Abound for various hauling needs, from transporting children and cargo to coolers and even surfboards. Unique and appreciated features include integrated turn signals on the rear and a dropper seatpost. The riding position is upright and commanding, with adjustable 700mm handlebars thanks to the telescoping stem, a feature absent on the RadWagon 5 and KBO Ranger. Aventon claims a rider fit range from 4′ 11″ to 6′ 3″, which our testers found accurate. From its sturdy handlebar to its 13-gauge spokes, the bike is built to haul its maximum capacity of 419 pounds. The unique short-tail frame design makes the bike remarkably maneuverable in tight spaces, easy to park, store, and even transport on a bike rack, while only minimally impacting its cargo-carrying capacity. For comparison, the Yuba Spicy Curry is 13 inches longer. Riders needing to carry two children or wanting a dedicated child seating area on the rear rack should consider long-tail alternatives like the Blix Packa, RadWagon 5, or the Haul ST’s long-tail cousin, the Haul LT.
The primary drawback of the Haul ST is its premium price and the additional cost of accessories. For example, a throttle is an extra purchase, unlike many other e-bike manufacturers who include it standard. While the plastic cargo bins outperform traditional panniers, they also add to the overall cost. Despite these price considerations, testers unanimously agreed that the Haul ST is a top performer for its intended purpose: hauling. It provides a fun and convenient way to minimize car usage. Long-Term Thoughts: The Haul ST’s exceptional utility and enjoyable ride led us to keep it for extended use. After 1100 miles, we’ve experienced minor issues like a warranty replacement of the battery charger, broken pedals, and a flat tire. Overall, we remain highly satisfied with the bike and use it frequently for commuting, cargo transport, and even carrying passengers. A minor improvement would be a more prominent power button, especially for use with gloves.

The bike’s Intui-drive torque sensor provides smooth and intuitive power modulation, enhancing the overall riding experience. Equipped with a VeloFox DM09 display that integrates the throttle, the Roadster maintains a clean look without sacrificing functionality. It features Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, a durable Dayco belt drive system, and a comfortable Selle Royal Vivo saddle, all contributing to its premium feel. Integrated features include fenders, lights, a rear rack, and even turn signals, making it well-equipped for all weather conditions and urban environments. This bike is perfect for exploration, whether on adventurous trails or daily commutes.
The primary disadvantage of the Aventure.2 is its weight. At 77 pounds, it’s a bulky and heavy bike, making transportation somewhat challenging. It may be too heavy for many bike racks and difficult to lift into vehicles or up stairs. Removing the battery, which is quick and easy, reduces the weight to 68 pounds, making it compatible with more bike racks. While the 4-inch wide knobby tires excel on varied surfaces, they can feel somewhat sluggish on paved roads and slightly delay handling response. Equipped with features rarely seen on folding bikes, such as electronic shifting, turn signals, a horn, and a MIK-compatible rack, the Vika X is ready for any adventure right out of the box. Its cutting-edge electronics not only automatically adjust power output but can also handle gear shifting automatically.
With a substantial 614Wh battery, the Vika X achieves a throttle-only range of 24.7 miles. The 500-watt motor delivers ample torque and power, enabling quick acceleration to 20 mph and effortless assistance up to 28 mph. Additional features like fenders, lights, and hydraulic disc brakes ensure it’s ready for riding in any weather. Despite its extensive feature set, the Vika X remains lightweight and easily portable, folding to a compact size of 35″ x 20″ x 26″ and weighing under 56 pounds, making it easy to transport in a vehicle or store away. Assembly is remarkably straightforward; unfolding and completing the final setup took just 13 minutes. Blix states the Vika X accommodates riders between 4′ 10″ and 6′ 2″, although testers at the taller end of that range felt slightly cramped. While the ride quality is enjoyable thanks to the steel fork and 2.4″ tires, it’s not quite as plush as the heavier 68-pound Aventon Sinch Step-Through, which boasts 4″ tires and a suspension fork.
While improvements could be made in comfort or range, the Vika X prioritizes practical folding bike functionality. Its torque sensor and high-quality display add a premium touch that sets it apart from other folding e-bikes. For those seeking a more budget-friendly folding option, the Lectric XP 3.0 Step-Thru offers similar adjustability and range at a lower cost.

Utilizing a 500W hub motor, the XP 3.0 packs considerable power into a small frame, reaching speeds up to 28 mph with pedal assist and 20 mph with throttle. The bike’s 500Wh battery is among the smaller ones tested, yet the XP 3.0 still achieved 24.5 miles in our range test. For extended range needs, a long-range battery option is available, making it one of the few folding e-bikes offering a secondary battery option.
3-inch wide knobby tires and a suspension fork provide more comfort than the Vika X. However, for ultimate comfort, the 4″ wide tires on the Aventon Sinch are even more effective at dampening vibrations. Assembly is exceptionally easy; the Lectric arrives fully assembled, requiring only unpacking and unfolding to be ready to ride. A 25″ handlebar helps the bike feel less compact than it is, and its tight turning radius enhances maneuverability. While folding to a compact 37x18x28″, it is somewhat heavy at 62.5 lbs, which can make lifting it into a trunk or carrying it upstairs challenging. Like all folding e-bikes, the XP 3.0 has inherent drawbacks: smaller wheels and a shorter wheelbase, while enhancing portability, can compromise stability, particularly at higher speeds. Despite being a folding bike, the XP 3.0 is easy to forget is foldable during riding. It is highly recommended for a wide range of users, regardless of whether they frequently utilize the folding feature.
Long-Term Thoughts: We kept this bike for long-term testing and real-world use. Despite being subjected to harsh conditions, outdoor storage, and even playa dust, it has remained remarkably reliable. We added a passenger kit for carrying a second rider and replaced the quick-release pedals with larger, more stable ones.

While we enjoyed testing the original hardtail Ride1Up Revv 1, the Revv 1 FS full suspension model elevates the experience with enhanced comfort and features. This moped-style e-bike impressed testers with its power, comfort, and practical features. A massive 1040 Wh battery provided an exceptional 37.17 miles of range in our testing, outperforming every other model tested. The bike’s 52V electrical system and 1000W hub motor deliver remarkable power and acceleration, especially considering its nearly 97-pound weight.
Ride1Up’s Multi-Class Speed System allows riders to adjust power output to suit terrain and local regulations. Registering the bike unlocks an off-road mode for even higher performance on private property. While the Super73 S2 also has an off-road mode, it doesn’t match the Revv 1 FS in power and speed. Featuring 50mm of rear suspension and a 120mm suspension fork, the Revv 1 FS is significantly more comfortable than the hardtail Ride1up Revv 1. Upright handlebars and a long, comfortable seat further enhance comfort on rough surfaces. Practical urban features include full fenders, lights, turn signals, and a horn, contributing to its moped-like feel. The clear 3.5″ central display was highly rated by testers, providing comprehensive ride data day and night, a significant improvement over the smaller display on the Super73. Assembly is simplified with a box that doubles as a support stand, included tools and instructions, and an assembly video for visual learners. While not designed for efficient pedaling, its extensive throttle range of nearly 40 miles makes pedaling less necessary. For adventurous riders, a second battery can be added to double the range. While its classification as a “bike” might be debated, its exceptional performance earned it our Editor’s Choice award for Class 3 e-bikes in 2024. Testers loved using the Revv 1 FS for errands and trail exploration, but its weight may pose transportation challenges, as few bike racks can support its 100-pound weight.

Despite intense competition in the full-power e-bike market, Specialized’s substantial investment in innovation is evident in the Levo’s ride quality and motor integration. While some bikes may appear similar on paper, testers consistently praised the power delivery of the Levo’s Brose motor. At 2.98 kg, it’s slightly heavier than Shimano’s EP801, but this weight is negligible on a 51 lb, 3 oz bike. The Levo motor offers 5Nm more torque, but more noticeably, its modulation and responsiveness stood out in testing. Testers unanimously ranked the Levo’s ride quality as feeling “more natural,” “more balanced,” and “more like a regular trail bike.”
Despite the inherent weight and power of full-power e-mountain bikes, the Levo’s integrated design effectively masks its mass better than competitors. In range testing, the Levo covered 33.1 miles on its 700Wh battery, 5.4 miles less than the range-leading Canyon Spectral:ON with its 900Wh battery, but still exceeding all other bikes in our test group. Adjustable geometry and mixed wheels make the Levo Comp highly customizable. Adjustable headtube angle and bottom bracket height offer significant tuning capability, allowing riders to tailor the bike to various riding styles and terrains. Its downhill performance ranked highest in our testing, highlighting the bike’s superior geometry and handling beyond its electric assist. Power assist in all three ride modes cuts off at 20mph, which the Levo frequently exceeds downhill. “The low center of gravity and well-balanced kinematics on this bike give it the best handling,” according to lead tester Joshua Hutchens.
While a top performer, the Levo Comp Alloy has areas for improvement. Long-Term Thoughts: The reviewed bike is one of several Levos we own and consistently ride. We are highly impressed with the frame adjustability and ride quality, believing Specialized leads the competition in this segment. While we have experienced motor replacements under warranty, they have become progressively quieter and more reliable. The bikes have had minor issues, particularly with the TCU and motors, but all have been promptly addressed under warranty.

The Ramblas is trail-ready out of the box, featuring a RockShox 35 Silver fork, SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain, SRAM DB8 brakes, and a dropper post. In our range testing, the 708Wh battery powered the Ramblas for 30.1 miles with 5980 feet of vertical climbing on a single charge. Aventon’s A100 motor delivers an impressive 100 Nm of torque, the most powerful motor we’ve tested to date, wowing testers with its output.
This aluminum 29’er features 130mm of non-adjustable coil-sprung front travel with agreeable, though slightly conservative (66.5 / 74.5), geometry. Offered in 4 sizes, with the smallest utilizing 27.5 wheels, the Ramblas is an accessible and affordable e-mountain bike for a wide range of riders (down to 5′ 1″). Like other alloy hardtails, the frame prioritizes durability over ultimate comfort, and the wheels are not tubeless compatible, making it less ideal for highly technical or aggressive riding. However, its versatility extends beyond mountain biking; its ample power, front and rear lights, and even a kickstand make it surprisingly practical as a daily commuter. According to tester Chris McNamara, “No other E-MTB so easily doubles as a daily commuter.” At 54 lbs, the Ramblas is only slightly heavier than the full-suspension Ari Wire Peak 2.0, but the motor effectively compensates for its weight. The combination of power and affordability is truly impressive, and we are excited to see future offerings from Aventon in the e-MTB category.
