When Aventon first launched the Aventure into the fat tire e-bike market, it shook things up. It redefined what people could expect from an electric fat bike priced under $2,000. The Aventure.2, its successor, has only solidified this position. Even as competitors have caught up in some areas, the Aventure.2 remains a top choice.
What makes us so impressed with this electric fat bike isn’t just its powerful 750W Bafang rear hub motor or the long-lasting 720 Wh integrated battery. Aventon has packed it with features and extras that are still not standard on many e-bikes in its class.
For instance, the Aventure.2 features a torque sensor. This provides a more intuitive riding experience and boosts battery efficiency. Better efficiency means greater range, letting you ride further without needing a bulkier, heavier battery. Aventon also included a vibrant full-color LCD display, durable metal fenders, a complete Shimano Altus drivetrain, and reliable Tektro hydraulic brakes.
Beyond its specs, the Aventure.2 is simply enjoyable to ride. Its handling is sporty yet comfortable, and despite its weight, it performs surprisingly well on various terrains, from multi-use trails to OHV roads.
It’s also available in both step-over and step-through frame styles, with attractive color options – a welcome change in a market often dominated by basic black and white fat bikes.
The Aventure.2 comes as a Class 2 e-bike out of the box. However, like many e-bikes in this category, it can be easily upgraded to Class 3 via the Aventon app, unlocking pedal-assisted speeds up to 28 mph. We’ve rigorously tested and compared this bike against its main rivals, and the results are clear: the Aventure.2 offers exceptional performance, comfort, and value for money.
In short, we are big fans of the Aventure.2. Until another fat tire e-bike surpasses it, it holds its title as the Best Fat Tire Electric Bike for 2025.
