A Half Metric Century is approximately 31 miles (50 km), and a Metric Century is about 62 miles (100 km). Unless stated otherwise, all rides are on-road tours. While most events typically include water stops, cue sheets, marked routes, and SAG support, SCU is not accountable for these services at non-SCU events. All rides are out-and-back to the start location unless marked “one-way”. Two-day events are generally Saturday-Sunday, and three-day events are Friday-Sunday, unless otherwise noted. These are self-paced, non-led rides.

Suburban Cyclists Unlimited refrains from listing other clubs’ rides that conflict with major SCU events and does not list commercial tours except for SCU sponsors or at the editor’s discretion. Indoor “spinning” events and randonneuring events are also excluded. As of January 1, 2019, events in Maryland, New York, and Connecticut are no longer included, and virtual events are excluded as of January 1, 2021.

Suburban Cyclists Unlimited is a recreational bicycle club and does not promote racing events. Therefore, triathlons, duathlons, amateur races, criteriums, and time trials are not listed.
