Understanding Bike Helmet MIPS Technology: Enhancing Safety on the Road

WARNING: It is crucial to understand that no bike helmet, including those equipped with MIPS®, can completely prevent injuries in every accident. While the MIPS® system is engineered to mitigate rotational energies during impacts, which can contribute to brain injuries, all helmets have inherent limitations in their protective capabilities. Users must be aware that altering or tampering with the MIPS® system in any way, or using a helmet if the MIPS® system is damaged, is strongly discouraged.

It’s important to note that in rare incidents, the low-friction layer of MIPS®, along with other helmet components, might cause minor skin abrasions to the scalp. This is a potential consequence of the high-pressure impact on the scalp or the movement of the low-friction layer during specific angled impacts, designed to reduce rotational forces on the head. DISCLAIMER: MIPS AB and its affiliates explicitly state that wearing a helmet with the MIPS® system does not guarantee complete protection from concussions or any other injuries to the brain, head, or body in the event of a collision, fall, or any impact. Users assume all risks associated with their activities while wearing a MIPS® helmet, including the risk of bodily harm, fatality, or property damage. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MIPS disclaims all warranties, express or implied.
