Charleston-born custom bicycle brand, Bilda Bike, is set to broaden its reach with the grand opening of its second store in the vibrant Park Circle neighborhood of North Charleston. Located conveniently across from popular local hotspots Holy City Brewing and CodFather Fish and Chips, this expansion marks a significant milestone for Bilda Bike, celebrating 15 years of business and the impressive sale of its 25,000th bicycle.
The journey of Bilda Bike began humbly in 2009 within a rental property on 88 Morris St. in downtown Charleston, fueled by the entrepreneurial spirit of two College of Charleston students. Their initial success saw them selling 100 bicycles to fellow students during a back-to-school season, quickly validating their vision. This early triumph propelled them to open their first 600-square-foot retail space within a year, situated at the corner of St. Philip and Spring streets – a location now occupied by The Pass sandwich shop. This move ignited a period of rapid growth, soon necessitating a move to a larger, more visible location at 677 King St., further cementing Bilda Bike’s presence in Charleston.
“We are incredibly excited to bring Bilda Bike to Park Circle and commemorate 15 years of serving the Charleston community,” stated Danny Einhorn, the founder of Bilda Bike, in a recent announcement. “We owe our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers whose unwavering support has been instrumental in reaching this 15-year milestone and the sale of 25,000 bicycles.”
What truly distinguishes Bilda Bike in the competitive bicycle market is their commitment to custom design. Unlike conventional bike retailers, Bilda Bike frames are conceived and designed from the ground up right in Charleston. The Bilda Bike experience begins with understanding each customer’s individual riding preferences. Expert staff then guide customers to the ideal bike frame before initiating a personalized customization process. Bilda Bike prides itself on its efficient assembly process, akin to a pit-crew, building custom bikes on-the-spot while customers wait, ensuring they can ride away on their perfect bike the very same day.
The new Park Circle location is designed to be a comprehensive cycling hub, featuring a full-service department capable of handling repairs for all bicycle brands. Additionally, the store will offer a large and diverse fleet of rental bikes, catering to both residents and visitors exploring the Charleston area.
The grand opening of the Bilda Bike Park Circle store is eagerly anticipated in May, promising to bring Bilda Bike’s unique blend of custom craftsmanship and customer-centric service to a new neighborhood.
