The Blue Knights® International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club stands as a unique, non-profit fraternal organization. Its members are united by two passions: a career in law enforcement, whether active or retired, and the exhilaration of motorcycle riding. Founded in the spring of 1974, the Blue Knights Bike Club emerged from a meeting of law enforcement officers in Bangor, Maine, USA, who sought to combine their professional camaraderie with their love for motorcycles.
This local initiative quickly blossomed. Chapters of the Blue Knights began to form throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and soon expanded beyond state lines. The organization’s appeal transcended national borders with the inclusion of Canada, and later, Australia, solidifying its status as an international brotherhood of law enforcement motorcycle enthusiasts.
Since record-keeping began, this remarkable charitable organization has collectively contributed over $18.8 million to a diverse range of charities worldwide, underscoring their commitment to giving back to the community.
At its heart, the Blue Knights is a family-oriented fraternity composed of both active and retired law enforcement officers. The organization actively promotes itself as a family-inclusive group, where spouses and children are warmly welcomed to participate in the various rides and club functions.
Membership within the Blue Knights bike club is open to all law enforcement officers who enjoy riding, regardless of the motorcycle brand they prefer. There’s no requirement to ride any specific type or make of motorcycle, ensuring inclusivity among its members.
The Blue Knights distinguish themselves by not having a probationary period for prospective members. Furthermore, the organization champions equality, with women holding equal status within the club, not only as members but also in leadership positions at both local and international levels.
The Founding Fathers of this esteemed club are: Joel Rudom, Bill Robinson, Doug Miner, Ed Gallant, Mike Hall, Chuck Gesner, Wayne Labree, and Chuck Shuman.
