For riders who appreciate refined details, the Sea Green, Champagne, and Lilac versions of the Lightning Bolt feature our innovative Gran Trajet Fork Crown. This design element perfectly accommodates 48b tires, offering plush comfort and confident grip. It also provides ample clearance for 42s tires when fenders are desired, maintaining versatility without compromising performance. The Gran Trajet fork crown is meticulously shaped to mirror the curve of fenders like the Honjo Smooth 62, ensuring a seamless and aesthetically pleasing integration.
Adding to the frame’s performance-oriented design, the newer Sea Green, Champagne, and Lilac colors also incorporate Imperial Oval fork blades. These blades are specifically chosen for their exceptional ability to provide passive suspension. This crucial feature significantly enhances overall comfort and boosts speed, transforming the Lightning Bolt into a true weapon for long-distance randonneuring and spirited road riding.
Important Build Considerations:
It’s important to note that the Light Sea Green color is currently available, but the Champagne and Lilac options are limited and will not be restocked in these shades once sold out.
The Lightning Bolt frame is optimized for a rider weight of up to 100kg (220lbs). It is specifically engineered around a 650b wheelset, which contributes to its nimble handling and comfortable ride quality.
The Galaxy Black version of the Lightning Bolt features a different fork crown design. While it perfectly fits 42b tires, clearance becomes tighter with 48b tires in the fork. If you plan to use fenders with the Galaxy Black frame, we recommend sticking with 38s tires for optimal clearance.
The Lightning Bolt is designed as a lightweight road and light gravel bike frame. While it’s robust enough for varied terrain, it’s not intended for aggressive downhill singletrack riding. Think of it as your ideal companion for exploring scenic routes and tackling challenging brevets, rather than extreme off-road adventures.
For riders intending to install a front derailleur, the seat tube outer diameter is 28.6mm.
All 2023 and newer Lightning Bolt frames are treated with an ED Coating for enhanced protection against the elements and to minimize internal corrosion. While this coating adds durability, it is not a license to expose the frame to saltwater environments.
Please remember that the headset is NOT included with the frame.
