Like many, I used to think electric bikes were… well, a bit tame. As someone who loves the thrill of dirt bikes and off-roading in Jeeps, the idea of an electric bike didn’t exactly scream excitement. That was until a trip to Grand Lake in 2020 completely changed my perspective.
Looking for a break from our usual Estes Park routine, my wife and I decided to explore Grand Lake. The hotel we were staying at offered electric mountain bike rentals. Honestly, the bikes weren’t top-of-the-line, but we were curious enough to give them a try. Having never ridden an electric bike before, my expectations were low. I imagined a leisurely, perhaps even boring, ride.
Boy, was I wrong. Just thirty minutes into our electric bike adventure, I was completely hooked. We had an absolute blast cruising around town and exploring the back roads. The experience was surprisingly fun and incredibly relaxing, even sticking mostly to paved paths. Considering my business revolves around high-octane adventures with Razors and lifted Jeeps, I had initially hesitated about offering something as seemingly mellow as scooters and ebikes. My e-bike experience in Grand Lake proved me wrong. It opened my eyes to a different kind of enjoyment, one that I now embrace in my own free time.
One minor detail that stuck with me from that first Electric Bike Rental was the uninspired helmets. I made a mental note: if I ever got into the electric bike rental business, cooler helmets would be a must!
When I decided to launch our electric bike rental service, I knew I wanted to offer quality from the start, unlike many companies that begin with cheaper options. I dedicated time to research, test riding bikes from Trek, Giant, Specialized, and others. Ultimately, I chose Aventon folding bikes for their versatility in town and light trails, and Luna X1 Enduro bikes for more demanding terrain, including downhill mountain biking. You can explore our Ebike Rentals to see our current selection. We’re even considering adding the new Husqvarna Electric mountain bikes to our fleet in the near future.

So, if you’re like me and once thought you were too adventurous or too “cool” for an ebike, think again. Come and experience the fun for yourself. I’m confident you’ll be surprised at just how enjoyable electric bike rental can be.
