The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance stands as Washington state’s foremost advocate for mountain biking, dedicated to creating and safeguarding sustainable riding opportunities. Our core mission is to make Washington the premier mountain biking destination in the United States. We achieve this through a multifaceted approach encompassing proactive advocacy with landowners and land managers across the state, the tireless efforts of volunteers contributing thousands of trail work hours annually, comprehensive mountain biker education via classes and clinics, and fostering a vibrant community through group rides and events.
Who We Are: The Heart of Washington’s Mountain Bike Scene
Born from grassroots activism in 1989, the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance (formerly known as BBTC) emerged as a direct response to trail closures impacting local riders. Over the decades, we’ve evolved into a powerful force for positive change within the trail building and advocacy landscape. Driven by the remarkable growth of mountain biking, the last ten years have witnessed significant expansion within our organization. Today, Evergreen is powered by a dedicated team of 5 full-time and 3 part-time staff members, complemented by an extensive network of passionate volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to building, maintaining, and advocating for trails year-round.
What We Do: Building Trails, Educating Riders, and Fostering a Love for the Sport
Evergreen’s impact is amplified by a strong and engaged community, boasting:
- Over 10,000 passionate supporters.
- More than 15,000 volunteer hours contributed each year.
- An annual force of over 1,000 individual volunteers.
- In excess of 700 group rides led annually, connecting riders across the state.
- Over 500 Mountain Bike Dirtcamp graduates each year, introducing newcomers to the sport and its responsible culture.
Our efforts are strategically focused across three key pillars:
Advocacy: The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance tirelessly champions mountain bike access and secures crucial funding by working closely with city, county, state, and federal officials. Beyond policy, we mobilize our dedicated volunteer base to protect, meticulously maintain, and expertly build both single-use and shared-use trails, as well as innovative mountain bike parks.
Education: We are committed to educating the broader public about the numerous benefits of mountain biking, promoting safe riding practices, and fostering responsible trail etiquette for off-road environments. Through clinics and educational programs, we empower riders of all levels to enjoy the sport sustainably.
Recreation: Evergreen is the hub for recreational mountain biking activities in Washington. Our website features a dynamic ride calendar, offering a diverse range of group rides that introduce riders to new trails, connect them with fellow enthusiasts, and build a strong sense of community. We believe in making mountain biking accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
