Race Categories and Age Groups:
The DINO MTB Series offers categories for everyone from first-timers to expert racers:
- Intro: Perfect for beginners, shorter race (5-8 miles), no age/gender divisions. Top finishers advance to Base category. Free for first-time racers!
- Junior: Shortest race with awards for age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-18 (Male & Female).
- Base: For casual competitors. Men’s age groups: 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+. Women’s age groups: 19-39, 40+.
- Sport: For intermediate regional racers. Men’s age groups: 11-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Women’s age groups: 11-18, 19-39, 40+.
- Expert: For advanced regional competitors. Men’s age groups: 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+. Women’s category is all ages.
- Elite: Highest competition level, men only. For top Expert racers and licensed pros. Cash prizes available, but not eligible for Expert age group awards.
Important Race Rules:
- Bike Type: Mountain bikes, cyclo-cross bikes, and similar are allowed. Motorized bikes are prohibited.
- Brakes: Two working hand-operated brakes are mandatory.
- Helmet: ASTM, Snell, or CPSC certified helmets are required.
- Closed Shoes: Sandals are not permitted.
- Headphones: Not allowed for safety and courtesy.

Awards and Prizes for Top Performers
Medals and awards await the top finishers in each category at Griffin Bike Park!
- Intro: Medals for the top 3 overall.
- Base, Junior & Clydesdale: Awards for the top 3 in each age group.
- Sport & Expert: Awards for the top 3 in each age group, plus Expert category is eligible for cash prizes.
- Elite: Awards for the top 3 overall and eligible for cash prizes (combined payout with Expert category).
Cash prizes are awarded as 90% payback to the top 25% of the combined Expert/Elite fields based on finish time. Series awards are also up for grabs, with points accumulated over the 6 DINO Series races, culminating in exclusive “DINO Champion Jersey” prizes.
Refund and Transfer Policy
Please note the DINO Series refund and transfer policy: No refunds are offered for race entries. Transfers to another event of equal or lesser value are possible if requested before the 2-week cutoff prior to the event. Participant transfers are subject to a $20 service charge. In case of postponement, your entry will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled date, or you can apply it to another series event. If an event is canceled, your entry can be applied to another series event of equal or lesser value.
