Discover the Joys of Riding a Lightweight Electric Bike

I’ve become completely hooked on the delightful experience of riding lightweight bikes, and now I own both a lightweight e-bike and a lightweight traditional bike. For my electric option, I chose the Ride1UP Roadster v2, and I’ve heard they offer shipping to Canada. With a starting price of just $1100 and weighing approximately 33 lbs, it’s an accessible entry into the world of Lightweight Electric Bikes. My personal experience with it has been fantastic, and their customer support has also been commendable.

My Experience with the Roadster v2 Lightweight E-bike

I’ve clocked over 7000 miles on my Roadster v2 so far, and the only maintenance required has been replacing the carbon belt at around 5000 miles. If you decide to purchase one, I would highly recommend getting a spare carbon belt (around $50) to keep on hand, just in case. The model I initially bought didn’t include a throttle, but it seems newer models might. However, if you prefer a throttle-less experience, you can purchase the “gen 2 display” from their website for $50 to swap it out.

Battery and Range of this Lightweight Electric Bike

The Roadster v2 also has an optional external battery extender available for $370, which nearly doubles the range. I invested in this as well, although the internal battery alone still provides a decent range of about 20 miles, depending on factors like your weight, fitness level, and chosen speed/pedal assist level.

Unbeatable Value in a Lightweight Electric Bike

For the price, I genuinely couldn’t find a better value lightweight electric bike, making it an easy decision for me, despite the slight risk of buying a bike online. I absolutely love it! I’ve even completed numerous metric and imperial century rides with it. As you can probably tell, I’m a huge fan.

Exploring Other Lightweight Electric Bike Options

If budget isn’t a major concern, Lemond bikes are known for being incredibly lightweight and aesthetically beautiful. The Specialized Turbo Creo is another excellent lightweight option, and a significant advantage is that you can find them at local bike shops if you have a dealer nearby, which can be beneficial for support and maintenance.
