Join Memorial Park Conservancy and H-E-B for a vibrant celebration of Black History Month at the Live at Live Oak event, now happening on Sunday, March 9th, from 4 to 7 PM. Experience the perfect blend of outdoor enjoyment and cultural enrichment at one of Houston’s beloved green spaces, easily accessible from the Memorial Park Hike And Bike Trailhead.
This FREE live concert is the grand finale of a special music series honoring diverse cultural holidays, reflecting the rich tapestry of our community. Nestled under the enchanting lights of Live Oak Court within the Clay Family Eastern Glades, this concert series brings together music, dance, and community spirit under the open sky. It’s an ideal way to unwind after a refreshing hike or bike ride through Memorial Park’s scenic trails.
On March 9th, immerse yourself in the sounds of Black History Month with two captivating live performances. Houston Groove Society will set the stage with an hour of soulful jazz, creating an atmosphere of smooth rhythms and captivating melodies. Following them, Zydeco Jay & Creole Pressure will take the stage, blending traditional Creole sounds with a modern Zydeco twist for another hour of high-energy performance. This fusion of genres promises an unforgettable evening of music for everyone.
Attendees will be treated to complimentary culinary delights from Fluffy’s Bistro, featuring delicious chicken wings and homemade chips. Boudin links with crackers and assorted pastries will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Quench your thirst with complimentary peach tea and hot chocolate from Grizzaffi Coffee, while supplies last. For those 21 and over, City Orchard will be offering free samples of their crisp ciders. Additional food options will also be available for purchase to satisfy your appetite.
