Exactly a decade ago, a simple phone call sparked an extraordinary adventure. The mission? To test a truly ludicrous idea in Morocco with a vehicle that seemed utterly unsuitable: the Monkey Bike. Originally designed for children in the 1970s, this small machine, quite by accident, turned out to be an almost perfect tool for adventure, albeit a slightly chaotic one.
The introduction to the monkey bike wasn’t exactly smooth. My mate Buddy, despite his… unique motorcycle skills, managed to crash within mere centimeters of his first ride.
Buddy's Monkey Bike Mishap in Morocco
However, as soon as I experienced a Moroccan dirt track on a monkey bike, the sheer brilliance of it hit me. It was undeniably obvious: we had to share this insane experience with the world. And so, the Monkey Run was born.
What started as a madcap idea has evolved into the incredible Monkey Run. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this event has proven far more resilient than its namesake primate counterpart. Thankfully, as ‘intellectual monkeys,’ we’ve ensured the Run is more vibrant than ever.
The official 10-year milestone arrives in January 2025, but the excitement is already building. To commemorate this decade of delightful madness, we’re offering a special £250 discount and planning a celebratory “Monkey Run Cocktail.” While the cocktail recipe is still under development, the discount is here and ready for you.
Stop overthinking it and sign up now to join the 10-year Monkey Run celebration. Meet us at the finish line to raise a glass of the soon-to-be-legendary Monkey Run Cocktail of Mirth and toast to your incredible adventure.

Monkey Run: A Decade by the Numbers
In a fit of nostalgia, we decided to delve into the frankly fantastic chaos of the past decade and crunch some numbers from the Monkey Run. Prepare for some dubious and pointless numerical specificity, celebrating 10 years of monkey bike adventures:
- Kilometers Ridden: 1.39 million – that’s 3.6 times to the moon! Perhaps NASA should consider monkey bikes for their next mission?
- Punctures: 1740 – a testament to the rugged terrain and perhaps slightly less robust tires of the monkey bike.
- Drones Confiscated: 17 – apparently, small adventure bikes and unauthorized drone footage don’t always mix.
- Weight of Tagines Consumed: 4263 kg – fuelling the adventures with delicious Moroccan cuisine.
- Beers Drank: 98,340 – hydrating (and celebrating) after long days of monkey bike riding.
- Camels Married: 1 – well, some things just happen on the road.
If you haven’t yet experienced the Monkey Run, this 10-year anniversary is the perfect opportunity to join the madness.

What the Riders Say: Monkey Bike Adventure Testimonials
Enough of my rambling. Here are some authentic voices from those who have braved the Moroccan terrain on a monkey bike and lived to tell the tale:
“Whoever came up with the idea of travelling around Morocco on an asthmatic strimmer was a complete idiot. It’s f** ridiculous. And brilliant.” – Charlie Gough, January 2020
“We were born too late to explore the earth & too soon to explore the galaxy, So the only purpose of you being alive right now is to ride kid’s toys across the Sahara desert…” – Schuyler Lifschultz, January 2023
“The best thing you can do for yourself and other functionally brain-damaged mates. Spills, chills and panty-staining adventures. Get a tattoo, because when your family dumps you in the old folks home, no one will believe you did it! “- Kate Hagstrom, January 2023
“Best thing you will ever do to find out what you’re made of “- Yannick Mermet, January 2020
“I hired a man with a horse to help me find the pre-run beers and the f** thing tried to kill me…” – Mike Elhard, January 2023
These testimonials perfectly capture the spirit of the Monkey Run: challenging, hilarious, and utterly unforgettable. It’s an adventure that pushes boundaries and creates stories worth telling for years to come. Join the Monkey Run and write your own chapter in this incredible saga.
