Having used Fabric’s Scoop saddle for years, I transitioned to the Bontrager Verse Comp Short to address numbness experienced during longer bikepacking trips.
On paper, the Bontrager Verse Comp Short stood out with its short 250mm length, neutral shape, and cut-out, suggesting advanced trickle-down technology. After almost a year of use, the numbness issue has resolved. The saddle’s ample padding allowed me to switch to lighter chamois in warmer conditions, reducing soreness.
Adapting to the Verse’s different shape compared to the traditional Scoop took some time. As the most affordable version, the materials are less forgiving. The base and rails are less compliant than my premium Fabric saddle, contributing to the Verse’s nearly 300-gram weight.
The Verse Comp performs well across various bikes, especially all-road and gravel models. The extra padding compensates for the lack of compliance, ensuring all-day comfort. While an upgrade to the premium version is planned, the budget-friendly Verse Comp is currently a highly satisfactory comfortable saddle.
