How to Rent Your Bike

Renting a bike is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Request a Bike: Begin by filling out the Bike Rental Request Form. This form initiates your rental request with Emory TPS.
  2. Review Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with the Bike Emory General Guidelines and the Georgia Bike Sense Guide to understand the rental terms and safe cycling practices.
  3. Security Deposit: A refundable $50 security deposit is required for all bike rentals. This deposit will be processed during the pickup.
  4. Pickup and Payment: Once your request is processed, a TPS team member will contact you to arrange a pickup time. Bike rentals are paid for and collected at the Parking Office, located at 1945 Starvine Way, Suite 400B, on the 4th level of the Starvine Deck.

Rental Periods, Fees, and Important Information

Emory Bike Rentals operates on a semester basis with the following periods and fees:

  • Fall Semester: August – December: $50
  • Spring Semester: January – May: $50
  • Summer Semester: May – August: $50

Additional Costs:

  • Rental Fee: $50 per semester
  • Lock Rental: $5 Deposit, $10 Rental Fee
  • Helmet: $10 (to purchase)

Security Deposit Details:

  • A $50 security deposit is mandatory and refundable upon the bike’s return in good condition, as per the rental agreement.

Late, Lost, or Damage Fees:

  • Late Return Fee: Bikes returned after the due date (by 2:45 p.m.) incur a $20 fee for the first day and $30 for each subsequent day, deducted from the security deposit. After two days of lateness, additional fees will apply.
  • Lost Bike Fee: Failure to return the bike will result in the loss of the security deposit and a charge for the full bike replacement cost of $650.
  • Lost Key or Lock: A $35 fee is charged to replace lost keys or locks.
  • Damage Due to Misuse: Renters are responsible for costs associated with repairing damage resulting from bike misuse, covering both parts and labor.
