For a personalized fit, the rear barrel retention system offers significant vertical adjustment. However, similar to the Lazer Blade+ MIPS Helmet, horizontal adjustment is limited, making it less finely tunable than Giro helmet models. Despite this, it’s considered a top rated road bike helmet for lightweight performance.
Nonetheless, we found it to be an exceptionally comfortable road bike helmet, largely due to its minimal weight. At just 205g for a medium size on our scales, it ranks among the lightest helmets we’ve tested, approximately 55g lighter than the Giro Helios Spherical MIPS Helmet.

We found it to be a very comfortable helmet, providing a snug fit with Met’s ‘Safe-T Orbital’ fit system and retention dial. The Cytal is designed as a premium, highly-ventilated aero helmet. Its very high price reflects its top-tier positioning, while oversized vents and a carbon wing address ventilation, making it a top rated road bike helmet for performance.
The carbon wing, inserted through the EPS across the helmet’s top, is designed to enhance aerodynamics, ventilation, and safety. POC states it keeps the helmet front open without compromising structural integrity.
Instead of directing air around, the design channels it through the helmet. Testing confirmed significant airflow through the large front vents and over the head. Deep internal channels further direct air through to the rear exhausts. In 20°C temperatures, the helmet kept our head cool with good airflow to the forehead, reducing sweat buildup, making it a top rated road bike helmet for hot conditions. For hotter conditions, brow padding is included for extra absorption.
Comfort-wise, the adjustment system provided an optimal fit without pressure points. While the performance gains from the carbon wing are hard to quantify, it clearly aids ventilation and structural integrity during impacts.
