If you’re unsure where to start, a 40-45c tire is a solid baseline for gravel riding. However, when considering a new gravel bike, prioritizing models with greater bike clearance opens up options down the road. You gain the ability to experiment with larger tires for enhanced comfort and control when you need it most, especially if you plan to venture onto more challenging gravel or during wetter seasons. Starting with a bike that offers ample bike clearance ensures you have the versatility to optimize your ride for wherever your adventures take you.
