The electric bike community is currently navigating the ripples caused by the recent difficulties faced by Juiced Bikes. In a move to ensure the sustainability of e-bikes and to prevent Juiced bikes from becoming unsupported, Zen Electric Bikes has announced a support initiative for Juiced Bikes owners.
Ravi Kempaiah, CEO of Zen Electric Bikes, addressed the Juiced Bikes owner community directly, acknowledging the concerns arising from Juiced Bikes’ recent challenges. Zen Electric Bikes, recognizing the shared passion for e-bikes and the importance of keeping these bikes operational, is offering to provide critical components to Juiced Bikes riders. This initiative is designed to prevent these e-bikes, many of which are still relatively new, from becoming unusable due to lack of parts and support.

Zen Electric Bikes is not seeking to capitalize on Juiced Bikes’ misfortune but rather aims to provide a crucial support system to keep Juiced bikes running. They are offering to supply essential components including batteries, motors, and controllers to Juiced Bikes owners. This commitment comes from a place of understanding and solidarity within the e-bike industry.
Kempaiah shared his personal connection to Juiced Bikes and its founder, Tora, recounting their first meeting at the Interbike Expo in 2014 when Tora was focused on ODK Cargo bikes. This relationship evolved over the years, with Kempaiah even connecting Tora with key retailers. He highlighted their shared history and his respect for Tora’s hard work and dedication to Juiced Bikes. By 2016, they were collaborating on ideas that contributed to the development of the Cross-Current X, illustrating a long-standing connection within the e-bike innovation space.

After pursuing his PhD and founding Zen Electric Bikes in Canada, Kempaiah has built a strong supply chain, partnering with major suppliers like Bafang – a key supplier also used by Juiced Bikes. This robust infrastructure enables Zen Electric Bikes to confidently offer support to Juiced Bikes owners with high-quality, certified components. Specifically, Zen is prepared to supply UL-2271-certified batteries, genuine Bafang motors, and other crucial parts like controllers and sensors.

To ensure the feasibility and scalability of this support initiative, particularly for the UL-2271-certified batteries which require significant order volumes to justify production and liability coverage, Zen Electric Bikes needs to gauge the demand from the Juiced Bikes community.
